Android device & Windows 8 USB tethering
Windows 8 does not recognize your internet access when tethering it from an android phone with USB?
I got the problem with Windows 8 and a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and solved it by activing the developer options and USB debugging in phone settings:

Go to settings -> "About Phone"

Click several times (around 7) on Build number. It should enable developer options.

Go back to settings, you should have now a new tab "Developer options".

Get in then activate "USB debugging". Replug your phone on USB, then hopefully Windows 8 should update network icon!
If this didn't work, other potential lead:

Check the USB cable: since some low quality cables does not enable information transfer, you should check with the official Samsung cable.
